I love teaching! 26 year veteran here. Sure, the system needs an overhaul, but the opportunity to pass along my love of science and to teach high schoolers how to be good humans is something I am grateful for every day! The “horror” stories in schools are compelling, but we need to train our brains to take a balanced approach to viewing our career. I try to end every day with reminding myself of a “win” and then try to figure out how to “fix” anything within my control for the next day.

I love teaching but all the other shit that wears me down is what I want to vent about.

I love being a teacher!! I like 2 of my 4 admins. I like most of my coworkers. My students are generally pretty great. However, our BOE and many members of the community have turned us into pariahs. The hate we get for doing our job, that’s what sucks

I love it. I Never watch the clock. The administration parts of it are dull but actual teaching is awesome

I love teaching. Planning lessons, working with kids…I enjoy it all. Some years are rough and can be stressful. The school you work for can make a huge difference. I’ve been at a good and bad one. Still loved teaching no matter where I was, but the extra stress added from a bad work envirnoment can make you begin to burn out.
