Shame on them! Much to the chagrin of Utah lawmakers, the First Amendment still applies in Utah. When they passed Utah's book ban law, lawmakers knew the U.S. Constitution prohibited their nonsense. In the 2024 Session, the Legislature doubled down, confirming clear intent to eliminate content they don't like from consideration under the constitutionally mandated test for evaluating the overall literary, artistic, political, and/or scientific value to minors, the First Amendment be damned.
