On days when I write, like today, I have to push past imposter syndrome. I love to write. But there is always a whisper in my ear trying to get me to compare. “That person puts out more content than you. That writer has more subscribers to their newsletter. That one gets so much great feedback. Who even is reading your work?! Nobody cares.” Now, I know this isn’t true; I am always happy to hear positive feedback from my readers. But the urge to play the numbers game is strong. 1/WritingThreads

But, when I do my best yet feel like I’m not reaching the thousands of people that XYZ Writer is, I remind myself that impacting just one person still makes it worth it. And as someone once told me, picture your readers in a room. A few people in a living room, a couple of hundred people in a church, a thousand people at a conference — it puts it in perspective. You don’t need thousands and thousands of listeners for your words to matter.
