I find it fasinating that at 13/14 years of age, most peoples music taste peaks. This isn't to say you stop listening to music then, or gradually slow down, but rather that this is the age your preference peaked. Your favourite era/genre/artist peaked at that time in your opinion. I'm unaware if this same study has been applied to musicians themselves, but from speaking to musicians over the years, most will tell you that they first got the 'musician itch' slighty younger around 10-12.
