It’s not a great thing to have to have it. The mouth feel isn’t something i would ever seek out. But it’s necessary. I was on a trach after brain injury and everything was thickened or off limits. I snuck a sip of water once, and almost coughed to 💀. I’m better now but it was life saving when I needed it.

For people that have aspiration and CARMP , they can't swallow regular water like you and I, so they add pectin that make it thick

The water is thick because dswallowing disorders exist.

Look up dysphagia. That will give you a clue.

Glycerin? Gelatine? Carageen? Pektin? There are many food thickeners, some are very natural. I don't know which of them work well with just water, have no taste and are able to be consumed in larger quantities. But seems like at least one does

I love thickened water. Only water I can chug because for some reason it feels more like a drinkable snack than water and my mind doesn't try to psychologically drown me. Lol

When I posted this, I didn't know what thick water was. Never heard of thick water. Never considered the possibility of thick water. To those of you who have educated me, thank you. To those of you who decided to insult me... Eh. You're probably not reading this.
