The Cost of Expansion: The Power Dynamics of Art Leaving the Community** As a Black artist, I often reflect on the consequences of our art leaving the community. There's a deeply rooted belief that when our creations cross those boundaries, we unknowingly relinquish our superpowers. Why? Because once our art is in the hands of others, they gain the power to dictate its value, price, and place within the art canon. They control the narrative, and in doing so, they hold the keys to our fate.
