Thanks for sharing this info. I’m new at this, so can’t offer help, but was curious about how artists collect payment. I know of one coffee shop in my neighborhood that offers space in their shop every Saturday for people to sell items. They charge $20 for a small table. And I’ve seen people indicate their info for payment. But I’ve never asked how the artist goes about making sure payment is received before the item goes home with the purchaser (if artist isn’t tnere).

I have my art at a very popular beach bar in Laguna Beach it works very well. They (customer) call me and I send a payment link. It’s really cool and a perfect match to my art. A ton of my collectors have found me from having fun at this place it’s The Deck. It’s a unique situation I have prints and a few originals too

High-end restaurants are amazing, as both artwork and restaurant are elevated by the partnership. High visibility for the artist, and visitors get the option of bringing a bit of the restaurant home with them. Paypal/Venmo usually isn't a problem. Commissions to the restaurant can be a good option, as well, as this can add incentive to make the sale and it's a "win" for everyone.

I have a collaboration with a coffee shop opposite my gallery. They wanted some art for their walls and chose some locally inspired pieces. (We are in Edinburgh) They either take payment then I reimburse or the customer comes across the street and pays in the gallery. They take the piece away when they have paid and I replace. Seems to work pretty well.

Have a contract that clearly lays out expectations and responsibilities of both parties, including but not limited to: install/deinstall + dates, who is responsible for “holes in the wall” from hanging, what happens if work is damaged, and how sales and inquiries are handled.
