We’ve all seen the stories about young workers bringing a parent to job interviews. I can understand needing a ride - that’s not really anyone’s business. But why bring the parent into the interview?

I think it's an opportunity. Maybe ask the parent to step out for the interview part and be there for the informational portion. That way you can "sell" the parent on the job too if the youngster is a good candidate. A parent will very likely take better notes. That said, I was happy to nap in the car while my kid did their interview. It would be awkward in my case for a parent to show up though because most people that apply with me are in the 35-70 range ;)

This happens all the time. I have said to parents "very nice to meet you, but now it is time for you to leave." I have only hired one of those and that is because they were the child of a friend.

Only parent I know that goes into their kid’s interview does so bc the child is autistic and the parent has advocated through job coaches, etc. to be there and translate neurotypical-speak into something that makes sense for the child
