I discharged a baby from the neonatal ICU. The parents were miffed because they thought they were being discharged the previous day but the baby’s hematocrit was very low and he ended up needing a blood transfusion. To placate them, I “snuck” an extra pack of diapers into their discharge bag. I left the room and came back and the dad had cleared every supply out of the bedside cart - including all syringes, needles, tape, cardiac leads, linens….all of it. Don’t be that guy.
