Overall I don’t think any of these criticisms ruin the film. Whats on screen is more than enough for the movie to earn a 7/10 for me. But some things i didn’t like were the amount of call backs and lifting lines and sequences directly from past films. It made me feel like the director was afraid of stepping outside the typical Alien formula we’ve seen, whether that was his vision or studio meddling, I couldn’t say.

They did build a full animatronic head of Ian Holm but used CG over top of it. Made it look bad. I wish they didn't copy the ending of Resurrection, really detracts from the movie for me. And the life cycle of the xenos was altered. Facehugger to chest burster in like 5 mins? The facehugger was still alive after they got it off of Navarro even though it implanted the embryo. Then chest burster to full size Alien in like 20mins...
