No, it’s fine and wildly mundane much of the time, but there’s been a rise of scary events that make good if it bleeds it leads news

Subways are safe and very reliable, for the most part. Just be aware of surroundings like you would anywhere else. Also the turnstiles have tap to pay now (phone, card, etc), which is considerably easier for most people than MetroCard.

The subway is great! Do I wish it was cleaner, more ADA accessible and had more frequent service? Yes! Is it still the best way to get around NYC? Also yes!

Yes and no. It depends on the time of day you’re riding at as well as where you’re going to and from. Trains run a lot more often daytime and weekdays than on weekends and at night. Some neighborhoods have a lot of train options that come frequently and some only have one option and you might have to wait 20 mins for it 🤷‍♀️ You could plan to minimize Ubers by ubering at night and taking the train by day? Or checking how long something takes by car vs subway and going from there

Old lady and I use it frequently. Just to hang out at platform edge.
