Having the realization that being labeled as “low maintenance” or “good” as a child by the adults around me was actually a projection. It’s what they needed me to be but it wasn’t who I was. Now as an adult I’m realizing that I’ve never allowed myself to need things emotionally from anyone because I always thought I was low maintenance. Marriage has taught me to not only have needs but the imperative to express them and that the health of the relationship depends on it. Growth
