On August 9th 2024, Moumita Debnath, a student doctor training at the RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata India was found gang raped, tortured and murdered in a college seminar room after being reported missing by her colleagues. Her murder has sparked widespread outrage and demonstrations by doctors across India as they petition the government for stronger protections for women and medical workers.
