My job was to be a “tracker” which in this case meant attending public events and taking footage of them, hopefully identifying primary opponents’ policy positions and keeping track of whether they were saying different things to different audiences on the same point. I never asked “gotcha’” questions like the trackers you hear about from super PACs, just listened quietly. But it often made me the most hated person in the room because I was openly working with another candidate.
