I believe that as part of their official duties politicians should have to engage in Oxford-style debates on the topics of the day, with positions randomly assigned. We need to get out of our media echo chambers and tribal affiliations and relearn how to critically discuss issues from multiple perspectives, exposing good and bad arguments on both sides. Make our deliberative bodies actually deliberate and declare winners and losers based on their depth of understanding and communication skills.
