seriously, always annoyed by this. The only way to do it is manually moving it within the crop interface and it sucks

Exactly. Or you have to add a whole additional layer to get the proper functionality. Also, the crop interface is super annoying and I often can't get it to differentiate between grabbing the image and grabbing the crop handles. So that's fun.
