After her health had taken a downturn and in what turned out to be her final days, my mum went to see the manager of her care home, Jess, and asked her if she thought she would make it to my wedding. Heartbreakingly, Jess told her that she did not think she would. So my mum asked Jess to help her with something but made her promise to keep it secret.
