I don't care about this person's age, sex or percieved position of power. My mother taught me in the early 70s that you don't freaking touch someone else's dog. My granddaughter, at 4, could learn to say from 50 ft away "Can I pet your dog please?" and wait for an answer. Surely a grown MAN knows as much as a 4 year old? If not, the problem IS HIM. He was not raised correctly and needed this lesson. I'd have given him a slap on the hand and asked if he alaays grabbed things from other's hands?

I wish I could resolve the mix of social powers that entitled this man to so selfishly grab the leash. In his mind he had some right. Partly age depending on how age was ranked as he grew up...ALWAYS listen to your elders, etc. Partly the common malady of Male Superiority, esp when raised in male-dominated families, so very common in the recent past. Partly some sense of "for these reasons of course you will trust me when I choose to take control." All while seeing themselves in a kindly light!

To everyone explaining why a man would choose to behave in this manner, I don’t care. I am a boomer and I was alive, but young, in the ‘60s and in high school and college in the’70s. I understand that men at that time had the expectation that they were the only people allowed to set boundaries, and many women have struggled to learn to set firm boundaries, but any sentient being knows that those rules have changed. 1/2
