I wish I were still involved in high school music education, solely to hear other music teachers saying “tryin to strike a chord and it’s probably A minor” without fully understanding what it’s referring to. And if you think I’m underestimating the cultural literacy of some band directors, ask me about working in h.s. music ed while American Pie was out, having to painfully explain what “this one time at band camp” actually meant and why you shouldn’t say it to students.
