Interesting hypothetical situation - You have previous plans to attend a wedding however a friendly acquaintance (someone you know well , you’ve done stuff together in the past but not quite enough to be friends/super close) passes unexpectedly and their wake is scheduled for the same day as the wedding and you can’t make both. Which do you attend?

3 小時內	Lynn Wolford chesterbear1	The wedding. Your friend who passed away wont get mad if you don’t attend the funeral; but the wedding people might get mad if you miss their wedding. I’d go to the cemetery later and pay my respects.
4 小時內	Jillian Thrillian Recker jillsinlalaland	My perspective is always that a wake is for the living, not the dead - if you were on friendly terms with the deceased but knew no one else in their circle, going to the wake might assuage your conscience for 30 seconds but then you have to figure out who are you giving condolences to, are you really feeling comforted by attending, or any other matter of awkwardness. Go to the wedding unless you know at least 3 people living (or 1 VERY CLOSELY) who will be mourning at the wake.

13 小時內	Helen Ellis hj_ellis87	There are so many factors at play, but my decision would be mainly made based on how much support the deceased persons family/immediate circle have - if I knew the wake was going to be small/not well attended then I would go there to support the family and hopefully help show them that their person was loved and will be missed, especially as it was an unexpected death.
