After the end of the Clone Wars after the Republic was restructured into an Empire, racism against non-human sentient species went up massively, as well as anti-droid sentiments. The Empire used this racism to structure power. You may be under the oppression of an authoritarian regime, but at least you aren’t that alien filth over there, right?
