Today I told my 8th graders that the last time I got a pay check was in May, and I don’t get another paycheck until the end of August. Their jaws dropped. They said things like “that’s not fair” and “you need a raise” and “you need to get a part time job”. It’s important to be honest with kids, and tell them real world shit. They care. They are the future. Summers are not paid vacation for teachers, it’s just an extra long weekend that’s unpaid. TeacherLife
