Can we stop kidding ourselves already? Every time somebody complains about the music industry they are flooded with answers like "do it for you" or "who cares about streams bro". The reality is artist create art not only for themselves but for others. If we didn't create our art for others we wouldn't be on social media promoting it. Doing music for yourself entails releasing that music and hopes that other people are affected the same way you were. To us...streams and followers do matter.

一天內	jeanyxama	I think what they mean is to do something that you’re passionate about and release it knowing that you won’t have complete control over how it’s received or whether people are affected by it, so don’t let it or whatever standard of success you have validate you. It may come across cheesy but you’re still a passionate artist whether you have 1000 followers or 1,000,000.
一天內	DENNIS GOLD dennisgoldmusic	I came to realisation people who are complaining the most and talking about "gatekeepers" and music industry being inaccessible are literraly hobbists who are doing music few hours a day on days when they feel like, and I will say it every time - if you want to be treated as professional, you have to treat music as profession! Don't look for excuses around you, instead look for a solution in you and put in more work towards reaching your goals!
