Way over the top, they are fleecing you. Get a quote from RAC or others and then phone the AA, if they can’t match the best price you’ve been offered then leave.

Had to call AA out once and Greenflag once. AA were better by a country mile

Try packaged bank account eg Nationwide flexplus? Uk+Europe, AA provides the service. Oh and travel insurance thrown in… can’t say how good the service is, as I’ve never had to use it personally.

Try Autoaid or Rescuemycar - use local recovery crews and never had a problem with either.

Each year I phone and ‘discuss’ and magically they come up with a better deal. I am with the RAC though.

What car do you have I get nationwide cover free with my annual service.

iirc I pay about £80 for two cars with the RAC via my insurance, they provide stand cover but for the comparatively small charge full cover can be obtained.

Thanks everyone that has replied. I've decided to switch to the RAC, they currently have a 40% discount via their website (ending tomorrow) and you get another 50% off via TopCashBack. I find this a bit hard to believe but that brings it down from £181.50 to £54.45 for the year. Which is a lot less than £368.99 from the AA obviously. I'll certainly be reviewing in 12 months when I get the RAC renewal to see what the best deal is then, I've turned auto-renew off.
