He ended up falling asleep in just a few minutes + for anyone who knows him knows that isn’t like him in the least. My mama instincts were ringing alarm bells. I decided to call his ped + explained what was going on. They asked how quickly I could get him to them. Turns out I can make a 40 minute drive take about 20 minutes when properly motivated. Our ped (who is a GEM) saw him for a few minutes before sending us to the Children’s Hospital in the city with concerns of appendicitis. 2/

I know that feeling, but I never got sick just was uncomfortable worked My shift then off to Drs. Then sent right to the hospital and a Hydro Scan and within no time I was having My Appendix removed. 6 months later I had My Gallbladder removed. All in the same year. That was a crazy time. I'm sure happy your little one got the Amazing Care he needed and your instincts knowing something wasn't right with him. We as Parents know in our gut for sure when things are not right 🙏❤️

Almost carbon copy of our experience with eldest when he was 7. The main indicator that triggered the A&E visit was when he tried walking upstairs and couldn’t bring his right leg up past his left. Before that it was clear puke and limp celery mode. Later found his appendix was gangrenous so we were incredibly lucky the docs didn’t delay.. Oh and turns out he has a seriously high pain threshold! Glad your boy got through safe & well.

We nearly lost my 4yr old nephew to a ruptured appendix on Christmas Eve 12yrs ago. Dr's kept telling us it was a stomach bug, flu, URI, etc. He had emergency surgery at 11pm Xmas eve & flatlined for 7mins. @ 1247am on Xmas day the dr came & told us he was alive. My nephew just started his junior yr in HS.

As a parent, I read stuff like this and always get so worried that I’d be the parent that would miss *that* sign. I’m so glad you noticed something was really off and that the doctors listened to you. I hope he has an easy recovery. I had mine out 3 years ago and even as a nearly 30 yr old adult I was terrified. I can’t imagine what you all went through and am so glad you had the support system of the hospital staff and doctors!!

Happened to me at age 6 too but the doctors spent so long deliberating on what the issue was that my appendix burst. I ended up hospitalized for a couple weeks (this was back in the 90’s, and wasn’t keyhole surgery) but my experience has meant that when my own child has a sick tummy I rule out appendicitis first lol
