I'm sick of people saying - apparently with a straight face - that government regulatory agencies like the FDA and USDA and others are out to kill us all because they approved the addition of arsenic and lead in tampons. Yes, somebody actually said that to me today. Without these agencies we would still be dealing with bakers adulterating bread with fillers like chalk, alum and ground up bones. We'd have no standards for cosmetics and people could put whatever they want into them.
