“Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one (YHWH echad)!” Deuteronomy 6:4 LSB Note how the Hebrew words YHWH echad (“Yahweh is one”) are translated as Kyrios heis in Greek. What this shows is that a Greek-speaking Jew would have no difficulty interpreting the phrase Kyrios heis or heis Kyrios as being the Greek way of saying Yahweh is one. And yet the NT writings describe Jesus as that very one Lord (heis Kyrios) who had become human!
