Most coffee heads and baristas I believe will say that the "pour over" method (which, when I was a kid was a plastic Melitta cone filter thing) is the best way to make coffee. But drip coffee makers are just automated pour over machines. Pour over is fine; there's an art and science to it and it elevates poor quality grounds but it's a process and takes time. Drip is fine just keep it clean and make sure it gets up to temp.
