Illustrators and muralists! Here is why it pays to have a design agreement and to take 50% up front for every project you take on: I just got dropped from a mural gig I was working on midway through concept ideation, for reasons that were a bit unclear to me. Not sure if I was absolutely missing the brief or they decided they didn’t like my work or something but they killed the project and I was happily left with $5k in my bank. (1/2)

幾秒內	Wyatt Hersey wyatthersey	If I hadn’t charged a down payment or spelled out my kill fee (50%) in the agreement I would be left hours deep into the project with nothing to say for it. So illustrators and muralists! If you don’t already have one, get yourself a design contract and charge 50% up front! If you don’t have a design agreement the Graphic Arts Guild has many FREE downloadable templates on their website. Great resource.

4 小時內	Chelsy Escalona \| Artist chelsyescalona_art	I was in the middle of a book project for a publisher when my baby was born( a month ahead of due date) work was already done and things were moving forward, of course I had to tell my agent what happened and ask if I could get some extra time to finish, only to get as a result the cancellation of my work and that they did not agreed on a kill fee so all the previous work I had done was left unpaid 🥺 my mistake was to think my agent had take care of this detail for me, not happening again
