During Prohibition, John Lazia gained power as Kansas City’s notorious mob boss.
My son Bryan and I share a fascination with KC’s history of organized crime. In 2015, we went on a gangster tour where we saw the reenactment of Lazia’s murder in front of the apartment where he lived.
In 2016 we had a private tour of Lazia’s summer house on Lake Lotawana where he and his cronies spent much of their time.
His tombstone in St. Mary’s Cemetery displays his name with an “o” rather than an “a.”
