Before you respond to your dog's misbehavior with some form of "he's just trying to annoy me--he KNOWS better!" please understand the more likely truth: he doesn't know better. He doesn't know enough. Please teach him. Dogs aren't born knowing how to live in our world, by our rules. They fit so well into our lives and hearts that many people forget this. Respect your dog's dogness, and teach him, humanely and with boundaries, what you expect of him. Dogs seek clarity--provide it.
