My main complaints with Europe after being here for 2 months: 1. No AC - Honestly, I’m fine with this because it’s more energy efficient, but it also makes my next two points absolutely unbearable during the summer… 2. No ceiling fans - Also mostly fine, but a little air circulation and white noise would be nice, right? 3. No window screens - If threre’s no AC or fan, I want to open the window, but I can’t do that if it lets all the bugs in! Please explain European friends 😅

Oh No.3 is annoying. I only open the window at night when I already switch off the light… The light attracts them to come. But I also have a bug net for the window too so the insect gets trapped when I open the window.

I live in Sweden, very near the arctic circle, and have both AC and fans. Very many houses up here have AC’s installed not primarily for cooling but as an efficient extra heater in winter. AC is a bonus. You just visited the wrong country!

Standing Fans. So you can put them away 10 months of the year. we like to lean out of our windows and see clearly thru them, window frames of old houses make it difficult (stone, old wood frames), not many bugs we mind apart from mosquitos, mosquito repellant.

Many people put up window screens to keep bugs out with windows open, but would not be part of landlords task… as a tenant, you can do this. Most people take them down during winter.

On 3 many European countries have shutters which allow you to open the window.

I don’t know where are you in Europe but. 1. I live in Spain and have A/C 2.went to Italy last month, in the middle of a heat wave, amazing A/C in hotels in Firenze and Lugo, and a friends house in Venice had A/C all over the place. And the hotels were not super fancy hotels either.
