Why don't more original stories come out in cheap sci-fi? Like, a rock band in a galaxy that's forgotten rock trying to revive rock and roll through touring space stations and colonies. Their whole thing is "We're going to lug actual instruments around and play for people live". I mean rock band movies are a thing. Why not use sci-fi to add some novelty? I see plenty of bad movies that spend all their money on terrible fight scenes to tell absolutely cliche stories.
