In my upcoming TEAR THIS DOWN (2/25/2025) a middle schooler is incredulous when she discovers that the 19th century hero of her town believed “women are best suited for the hearth and the nursery, and ill-suited for the ballot box.” And somehow here we are in 2024 with “childless cat ladies” and “the purpose of the post-menopausal female.” Truth is stranger than middle grade fiction.
