The whole “Jesus was a refugee” thing is bothering me because it exposes one of the biggest contradictions in the Bible (and also isn’t likely historically accurate). Jesus was only a refugee in Matthew’s gospel because Matthew has him living in Bethlehem and being forced to flee to Egypt and then settle in Nazareth. In Luke’s gospel, Jesus was from Nazareth, went to Bethlehem for the census and was born there and returned to Nazareth immediately.
