One of the most common misconceptions about meditation is that you are supposed to clear your mind. Expecting thoughts to simply stop is an unrealistic and unhelpful expectation that many people hold. Instead, mindfulness and meditation hold space for us to become aware of our wandering minds, choose how to meet our thoughts, and redirect awareness where we want it to go. The mind will wander and when it does, it is another opportunity to practice meeting it with kindness and begin again. 🌱
