The test works by looking for DNA fragments shed by tumor cells and precancerous growths. While it’s already available in the US for a steep price, most insurers do not cover it since it has not yet been approved by the FDA. This new study, however, may change that, and the maker of the blood test, Guardant Health, says they expect an FDA decision at some time later this year.
