Let’s thank Jews for the weekend. The Jewish sabbath is the first fixed weekly day of rest. Christians, to be different, chose Sunday. Muslims, to be more different, chose Friday. Workers, during the Industrial Revolution, were forced to work seven days a week. They complained and struck to get Sunday, the sabbath, off. Eventually the Jewish sabbath was included and we got the weekend.
