Please help readers! For years I have been looking for this book that I read in my late teens or early twenties. It was about a nuclear apocalypse for the whole world, and the main focus was this guy who just happened to be showing the US safe place (where the president was supposed to go in case of nuclear war) to a woman’s group. Also down there when the US was hit, was a cleaning lady. He ends up in shackles, I think to be saved to make life go on. It also concentrated on New Zealand 1/2
