My almost 11yo daughter started asking me questions about my childhood at bedtime. Cue anxiety. She asked me if my parents were strict or nice, if I got punished, etc. I answered all honestly as best as I could. She sucker punched me with this one: “Mom, was anyone in your family nice to you when you were a kid?” 🥊 “No baby. They loved me in ways they thought mattered, but no one was nice to me.” 🩹 “I feel sorry for you, Mom.” 🥺 “Don’t be. It’s why I love you better.” 🫂 BreakTheCycle
