Most of them converge that it serves its purpose for the right person. Pro designers are extremely limited within it. But it does not threaten a designer in any way. Kind of like DIY users vs extension users, each will get what is best for them. I use Canva as a tool every once in a while but can’t use it for complex projects.

I know some like to bash it for a joke (I am guilty of making one 😆) but it's a really helpful tool for layout, organizing, and social media. The Brand Kits are a time saver

“A good workman doesn’t blame his tools” comes to mind. Anyone can use paint…canva…whatever but it doesn’t give you years of design experience and knowledge on best practice, paired with an elevated aesthetic and commercial focus. That also doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a go if it makes the most financial sense and you are certain that what you create isn’t going to be detrimental to your business (first impressions are important and hard to change!)

I don’t choose to use it, as I personally find it more difficult to use than Adobe programs, but it is a fantastic tool. Once someone has their brand built by a designer, Canva or Adobe express are amazing systems to create branded templates and online marketing collateral. The brand kit capabilities in both applications are 👌🏻

It’s just a tool, but a not a uniformly positive one. Much like PowerPoint, it controls type and color poorly. It allows for collaboration with non-designers, which can improve productivity OR can allow brand management and strategy to get wildly out of hand quickly. It makes it easy to make bad decisions if you don’t have a strategy and visual system in place.

Graphic designers should be problem-solvers, and Canva can be a tool to do that. I’ve found it to be helpful in empowering businesses and people who don’t have the resources for a FT designer. I’m trying to figure out how to utilize it better in my work.
