Can AI "replace" us? As a species? No. AI will very likely not gain any form of sentience, it would he hard to replicate something that we don't even really know how it actually works. In the workplace? Absolutely. Not because AI is competent or can produce something with the same quality as humans but because AI is far cheaper than humans. Companies have and will sacrifice quality for profits and they are already beginning to do so at this very moment.
