recently on several flights following the Singapore Airlines disaster. People were extremely casual about the seatbelt light. on trans-Pacific flight, As we prepared to land and light was on, my seatmate wanted me to get up so she could get at her bag in the overhead bin. I refused citing the Singapore flight. she climbed over me and got up anyway.  through this and other such incidents, the flight attendants said nothing!
