The more amazing feedback that comes in about my debut, the more anxiety my brain churns up about book 2. That it won’t stand up to book 1. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Each new book is like having another baby—made from the same genes but somehow a completely unique and beautiful creature with its own triumphs and challenges that you’ll come to love just as much as your first. 3. The sophomore novel anxiety is REAL. BUT—you’re doing great. At least you accepting the positive feedback. I usually just assume my mom asked the reviewer to be nice to me—which is exactly how I got a date for my senior prom

I was EXACTLY the same. I ended up writing 2 novels in a year because I couldn't decide which was the best to follow it with. They both ended up getting a publishing contract, so try not to worry!
