Except they did manage with far less plastic and products full of toxic ingredients, so cherry picking the good bits is allowed 😊

My mother had to quit school at 17. Her mother asked her “Why do you want to go to school anyway you’re only good for having babies.” That set her on a course for fierce determination to improve life for her daughters. 

My grandmother was the smartest person I’ve known, except for my mother. My grandmother’s only option was wife and mother. My mother was the first women in her family to go to college. She loved chemistry, studied food science, became a home economics teacher. Her brother became the PhD biochemist my mother could have been. I am a park ranger. I will fight for my girls to have even more opportunities. We will not go back.

My grandma got married at the same age, had 4 kids in 5 years, and stayed in a bad marriage until their youngest graduated high school because of the whole “stay together for the kids” thing. My mom and her siblings all say they wish my grandparents hadn’t done that because it was far more damaging to all of them than it would’ve been had they divorced instead.
