What is your view on disciplining children? (I am currently entering the toddler attitude and could use different people’s views and advice) momlife

Currently, we wrestle over timeout for like an hour no joke. I was spanked and slapped growing up. But it just doesn’t feel right to do personally. I feel like I have NO idea what I’m doing. All advice is welcomed!😅

Physical harm is an absolute no. Even if it’s only symbolic. It breaks the kid’s spirit and its effects linger. One strategy that I’m finding to work with my toddler is 1. Sit down or lower yourself to his height. 2. Lower your voice to a whisper if you have to - these 2 things will make your kid feel like there isn’t a power struggle.

It can be so hard. Trying to break generational disciplines is even harder. I believe in boundaries and knowing what’s developmentally appropriate
