I grew up in an England that was very different from today. Harold Wilson was prime minister and Edward Heath. Both of these prime ministers were far left of either of the big parties today. Heath took us into the EU (then Common Market) in 1972. Free school milk was standard, no students had tuition fees to pay. Poorer ones got generous grants. The economy was bigger we still had engineering industry. As young people we had hope. That is what we need to give our young people today too.
