Trail conditions change constantly on the AT. Sometimes you’re walking under the forest canopy surrounded by dense ferns on a soft dirt trail. Other times you’re walking a rock ridge or climbing/descending at a 60 degree angle. It varies. Sometimes on the same mountain. As Forrest Gump would say “the trail is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” But it’s all beautiful, each in its own way.
