My wedding industry rant for the day— I’m honestly sick of caterers at weddings ignoring or just not caring about vendors with food allergies. I’m constantly asked prior to weddings if I have any diet restrictions/allergies and then they still serve me food with it. If you’re working with food in any capacity you should be aware of every diet and allergy known to man and have another option available. It’s unacceptable. I started packing my own cooler full of food for this reason.

I also used to work in food and bev and witnessed far too much apathy towards dietary restrictions in back of house to really trust many people with my food

We ask for ‘vendor counts’ but never reach out to the vendors for allergies, etc. for a buffet meal…. and honestly don’t really have the resources to do this every event. So we are relying on our client for this info. Of course if it’s a plated meal, we ask for the entree choice but rely on the client to get this. Are you saying you have had a caterer reach out direcly prior and then still not follow through?
