Is this the best we can do? Nope. I think candidates for the top job should be selected by head a hunting firm and must meet strict minimum qualifications re education, employment history and IQ. Must NOT be politicians, preferably female but not a deal breaker. Successful candidates will represent the party they identify with followed by a general election. Major cabinet ministers will be selected in an apolitical process, appointing the MOST qualified individuals to their respective posts.
